Homework - Daddy's Girl

My dad has a lot of the "old world" work ethic since my grandparents both came over here from Europe as children and had to work hard for what they had.  That, of course, was passed on to my dad.  I love to hear the tales of my dad's childhood or his memories of my grandfather's younger days.

My dad is the family Mr. Fix-it.  The one, who when I was growing up fixed everything.  If we broke it he fixed it.  Dad is still the one who fixes everything.  Even from way out here in California, if we can't figure out what to do or need another opinion, we call him for advice!  He always has a project going on:  building shelves, making something for the garden, doing something to the motor home or cars.

Dad was the family chauffer.  He was the one who normally drove me to and picked me up from dance lessons.  That is until he taught me to drive and I got my license!  I still remember the first driving lesson he gave me.  It was in Booneville (NY) where we had gone to camp for the weekend.

My dad likes to talk *smile*.  I think of everyone, he is the one who best likes my new cell phone plan.  You see, now that I get 5000 night and weekend minutes (and even "I" can't talk that much!), every weekend I call and we just talk and talk!  It used to be that my mom would call or I would call her or email her, but now at least half (sometimes more) of my n/w minutes used are talking to him!

My dad loves to travel!  They'll take 6 or more weeks at a time and head out here to California.  They stop at various attractions and sites along the way.  They try to get as much traveling in as they can.

And last, but not least.. my dad likes to and can sleep anywhere!  At my parent's house the kitchen is the gathering area.  It's huge (dine-in style) and has a TV.  In the winter it is, naturally, the warmest room of the house.  Well my silly dad will sit there watching TV and fall asleep in the kitchen chair!  lol!  You can tell him to go to bed and he'll say:  "I'm watching this."  (even though he was just snoring!  tee hee!)
