Homework - Dark and Stormy Night

I can't recall any spooky/scary thing that have happened to me. I did sleep with a light on at night for the longest time after the neighbor boys told me there were "things" under my bed... mean boys! lol!>

I was going to write a spooky story.. but got writer's block! AGH!

I was on the verge of requesting a * next to my name when it hit me... I could write a blurb about the ghost of Gelston Castle! In Jordanville, NY there is a replica of an actual Scottish Castle that was built in the 1800's.I was fortunate enough to visit the castle on two occasions as a child (neither time did I encounter the ghost).The legend is that the castle is/was haunted by the original original owner, Harriet Douglas Cruger who loved the castle so much, that she decided her heart (and her body) should be buried in the castles cellar.She ordered granite from Scotland and had it carved for a sarcophagus. She stated her wished in her will.

However her heirs completely disregarded her wishes and gave her a traditional burial. To add insult, they hauled the sarcophagus outside and used it as a watering trough

.Eventually it disintegrated, however others claim it was hit by lightening. I remember asking Mrs. Blair (the then owner) about the ghost when my mother took me to the castle (for my second visit, the first had been a school field trip.)I remember her telling me about things the ghost would do.

The last information I can find regarding the castle is that it was purchased by Russian Cellist Mstislav Rostropovitch, however he had it on the market. Sadly there's not too much information on the web about it :o(
