We didn't do anything exciting this summer. We were supposed to drive to NY in August. But between gas prices and the new kittens (can you imagine them left to their own devices for a month with just a daily babysitter checking on them? ACK!) So the vacation fund sits in the bank and we currently have plans to go next August. Why August, normally the hottest and most humid month? Well because of the fresh vegetables, of course! My mom always plants her vegetable garden (some of you may remember me mentioning this in previous HW assignments.)
This would have been a repeat trip that we took in 1998. We decided to drive since we are very leery of flying Brie. Another thing we didn't want to deal with was finding motels that would take dogs. So we got a tent and sleeping bags and camped! It's much easier finding a decent campground that accepts dogs! It was fun except for the night it rained.. ALL NIGHT LONG! But that wasn't nearly as bad as the night we spent in Oklahoma on the way back. It was warm so we had to leave the window and door flaps open. Well, you know what they have in Oklahoma? Armadillos! Brie would not sleep all night.. she whined and watched and whined! To this day I don't much like Armadillos, thanx to Brie! :o) (And if we tent camp on our next trip.. we will NOT spend the night in OK.)
As a side trip on the way back, we stopped by Niagara Falls. We found a nice hotel on the Canadian side that allowed dogs so that we could leave Brie in her crate when we wanted to do some dog things. NO... we didn't leave her in there the whole time... we were within walking distance of the falls, so she got to go there. We also took her when we went to visit the floral clock!
There are some pictures from the trip on a special page that I made for Brie's site (now Brie and Tyler's site) here.
