Calendar Day

Long ago, the day after Christmas became Calendar Day for me. I’m not much interested in the day after Christmas sales and slashed prices on Christmas decorations (although I do look at the ornaments at macy*s and Kohls). The big draw for me is the calendar kiosk at the mall! I want to get there when it first opens so I get a good selection (hubby was none too happy when I woke him up before 5 on a non-workday and said we were leaving before 6!) I always like to get my samoyed calendar for the kitchen and something cat for the computer room. This year for the computer room, instead of the Lang I bought Gary Patterson’s Cats… very cute but more comic… the Lang’s fit the room better but I think the same old style was getting old!

Work was more of a challenge. For years I would get a Big Dogs calendar but when the store closed at the outlet I refused to pay full price and postage from their site (especially since the pictures were just being recycled with no new content being added)… Last year after MUCH debating I ended up with a really cute Betty Boop calendar but this year it was quite boring…. Decisions…. Decisions…. On my second visit to the calendar kiosk (I had left to see what the book store had) I saw the Garfield calendar pictured above…. Garfield-ized environmental themes… The title of the calendar is a very Garfield: Make Lunch, not Landfills.

I have Cathe’s calendar on the way for my workout area (I preordered it so we didn’t get to see pictures…. if January’s picture is any indication… it’s not going to be a good year… UGH! I want workout pictures… not pictures of the cast mugging it up!)

Hubby picked out an old fashioned Pin Ups calendar.

I found 3 ornaments to add to my tree: a cute Annalee snowman at macy*s then a Statue of Liberty with Santa hanging on her and a cute kttie with mistletoe at Kohl’s. We rounded out the very long day with seeing Sherlock Holmes (we liked it!), taking a brief look at tile and paint chips for the laundry room at Home Depot and Lowes, then grocery shopping…. Phew….

Yay, 2 friends chatted!

Hi Caligurl! I always get my calendars after Christmas, too. Jeff always has to have the SI swimsuit calendar. For years it was a running joke- he’d buy it “for Justin” when he was a little boy. I’d have a back-up for Justin of a Bear calendar. Of course, one day when Justin was about 18, he decided to keep the SI calendar. ;)

I get Lang for my kitchen and our relative Tracy illustrates an Astrology calendar so we have to have that. Another cousin is one of the duct tape guys so we get their calendar. I? get so many in the mail, too- Humane society and all my tree-hugger (as Jeff calls them) calendars. ;)

    Happy New Year! :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR Caligurl! Yes, I was speaking of you when I mentioned friends who take their blankees to movies. I have to be careful to not get too cozy or I’ll fall asleep! (((Hugz)))
